Caravan Receives Jackie Robinson MVDBP Award
(Saginaw, MI) -The Detroit Tigers, along with Major League Baseball, have chosen Caravan Facilities Management, LLC to be the recipient of the 8th Annual Jackie Robinson MVDBP Award (Most Valuable Diverse Business Partner). Caravan has provided custodial services to Comerica Park for the past three seasons.
In 1998, Baseball Commissioner Allan H. “Bud” Selig authorized the creation of MLB’s Diverse Business Partners Program. The program is dedicated to establishing and growing new and existing partnerships with minority and women-owned businesses. Their goal is to increase business opportunities within MLB for minority and women-owned businesses. In 2004, Commissioner Selig announced that every April 15th would be dedicated to honor Robinson’s impact on baseball and American society. On this day, all MLB players, coaches and umpires wear his Number 42. The Jackie Robinson MVDBP award is a key component in the program to honor top performing minority/women-owned business partners.

Brandon J. Bordeaux, was scheduled to accept the award during an on-field ceremony at Comerica Park on Tuesday the 15th, which is “Jackie Robinson Day” throughout Major League Baseball. However, due to inclement weather, the game was cancelled.

Caravan Employees Volunteer
On March 12, Caravan employees in Fairfax, Eddie Thompson, Zack Silcox and Rob Simmons took time to volunteer by building and painting birdhouses. They joined with employees from GM, MPS, the Mayor of Kansas City, Mark Holland, and local students from Douglass Elementary. The birdhouses will be installed near the visitor center later this year to help create a wildlife friendly landscape.

Steve Webber, a Caravan employee who works at the GM Fairfax Assembly Plant has found a way to go above and beyond his assigned duties. Steve collects discarded and lost safety glasses.
